The place and the people inspire a lot of peace which was what we were looking for. The garden is a paradise only 25 min away from Malaga. A very cleverly designed and very comfortable apartment to stay in on Andrew, Hazel, and Grace's plot of land near Coín. The gardens are beautiful and there is plenty of space to walk and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside while still being close enough to shops and amenities if you need them. It's well located for walks in the nearby Mijas mountains, and just a 30-minute drive from Sierra de las Nieves, where there are also many interesting walks to do. Andrew and his family are on-site and made us feel very welcome indeed, showing us around, giving us recommendations about local places to go to and see, not to mention providing us with oranges and lemons from their trees and eggs from their hens. Thank you very much for a lovely stay!

Peaceful location and well kept clean accommodation Family of 4 stayed for 6 nights. Excellent accommodation which had all the amenetites we required for a restful stay. The rental was very clean and the bedrooms spacious and offered a great nights sleep. Location is great to access shops/cafes/pubs in Grassington. Easy access to great walks and cycling in the area. Elegant period property, decorated to a good standard in a great position in Grassington Grassington is a lovely little town with great pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops. There are fantastic views whichever way you look and there are great walks along the banks of the river Wharfe. Fern House is located right in the middle of the town, tucked away off the main street with one parking space reserved for this property.
The rooms are located on the second and third floors, the stairs are very steep but the rooms are very nice and the kitchen and bathroom very modern with everything you would need during your stay.

Brilliant cottage in a brilliant location

This was a very comfortable and compact apartment right in the centre of Grassington. Bed in master bedroom extremely large and comfortable. Would have been plenty big enough for us had our 21 year old son chosen to join us. As it was two of us had loads of space. Lots of pretty steep stairs so not for those with mobility issues.

Excellent property. Steep narrow stairs might make it tricky for people with mobility problems, but this is to be expected in a property of this age and type.

Very efficient heating system and plenty of hot water.

Bed spacious and comfortable. Very quiet area, with no 'night noise'.

TV could be improved by inclusion of BBC iplayer.

WiFi reception good.

Plenty of space to turn a large car, in spite of narrow entrance to the 'Fold'

Property is in an ideal location, cafes and pubs just a short walk away, plenty of country walks starting just outside the door. The parking spot is a real bonus too. The rooms themselves are very spacious, kitchen has all you need and we used both sitting rooms, The bed is very comfortable and there is plenty wardrobe space. The rainfall shower in the bathroom was a joy. This was our second visit to Fern House and we will certainly be back.

We had a great time in Fern House. It is a very homely place, stocked with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Its location is perfect being just a few steps from the main square and next to shops, cafe's pubs and restaurants. We enjoyed great walks along the riverside to Kettlewell and Appletreewick and took short drives to Malham and Bolton Abbey which were amazing.

We thoroughly recommend Fern House as a place to stay in Grassington.

We had a lovely 4 day Break in Fern House in January.The apartment is very cosy and inviting a real home from home.Everything is there that you may need all kitchen appliances microwave, washing machine, dryer ,dishwasher etc.

The village with its abundance of tea shop's , 3 pubs and a hotel with a "posh' restaurant and local shops are all within 100 metre's of Fern House.

Grassington moor is just behind you with endless opportunities for some beautiful walks or go down by the river for a more sedate walk.Absolutely couldn't fault anything and the weather was fairly kind to us for January.We will definitely be coming back to Grassington and hopefully to Fern House.

Spacious yet cosy, very good value for money and the location tucked away just off the main high Street was perfect, comfy bed and lovely and clean throughout,could not have wished for more, would not hesitate to recommend fern house to anyone, would definitely return

Good local bus service and amenities on the door step. Didn't use the car once during our stay.

Apartment surprisingly warm, given its age. Has all necessary equipment for a self catering break. Beds comfortable, linen and apartment spotlessly clean.

Fantastic communication from Andrew, who immediately relsoved one little 'issue' we encountered whilst there.

A real gem of a place, with the benefit of a super cleaner. Thank you.

The house is very attractive, comfortable and well-maintained. Grassington is a lovely dales village and provides a great location for walking in the Dales. There is a good choice of places to eat just a short walk from Fern House.

Superbly positioned accommodation just off the main square. Very well equipped and comfortable especially the main bedroom with its large bed and luxury covers - very cosy. Could have done with the heating staying on for an hour longer in the evening especially as it was Winter time.Highlight of the stay was dinner at No 5 Grassington House -wonderful food ,pleasant atmosphere and welcoming staff. The Fountaine Inn at Linton is a must place to visit and eat whether at lunchtime or evening. Highly recommend a stay at both Grassington and Fern House.

We're sorry we missed out on the top five stars we have received from our other guests perhaps because of your feedback about the heating. Just to clarify... the heating is programmed at 20 C until 11pm and then at 16 C overnight. We are happy to alter these settings, if guests phone or text us at the time, as we have HIVE wireless control. There is also a manual override control on the main landing of our apartment for guests to increase the temperature themselves. We hope that you will stay with us again and we will be able to set the controls for your personal requirements.

Everything in the property was finished to a very high standard and had all the modern conveniences that you would expect. There are excellent shops, restaurants and pubs all within a very short walk.

I'd highly recommend it if your planning a walking trip in the area, we did two over the course of our stay and the local scenery is stunning. We visited several nearby villages on our travels and found them all to be very pleasant, each with it's own distinct character.

We visited primarily for the 1940s weekender, which was great fun! The village effectively became an open air museum and everyone got into the spirit of the occasion. This does lead to my one minor criticism though: We weren't informed that between 9am and 4pm Main Street was officially closed due to the 1940s weekender, which meant that we were unable to leave as initially planned.

All in all an excellent weekend and a location I would highly recommend!

Fantastic Fern House

The property has a very luxurious feel. As soon as you enter and ascend the stairs you are surrounded by lovely paintings, photos and sketches of the area you are about to explore. The all purpose kitchen provides everything you need and the bathroom is a tranquil place at the end of a long day walking around the dales.

Upstairs to the bedrooms which are furnished beautifully adding a touch of luxury with very comfortable beds and plenty of space.

We had a wonderful stay - thank you very much indeed.

The apartment is wonderfully furnished and spotlessly clean. They even had toys for our kids! Very accommodating also. It's right in the middle of Grassington, but off the main street so very quiet. Grassington itself is very well located and such a cute place! I would highly recommend the apartment.

The property is lovely. Very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed (except a bread bin) and the owners were very helpful. Nice big rooms with high ceilings and light. Much appreciated despite the grey weather! It was great to be so central and the parking is a real added bonus. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic holiday home this is. The house is beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. A real home from home. The location of the property is ideal for touring and Grassington itself is lovely, the local people were very welcoming. It was our first visit to the Yorkshire Dales and we loved it. Grassington 1940's weekend 2015

We arrived on Friday 18th September, having booked for 3 nights to participate in the 1940's weekend which is held on a yearly basis. There were 4 in our party, and the house was ideal for our needs, being located right in the village, and with it's own private parking space.

(A major drawback of all 1940's festivals, is that once available accommodation in and around an event is booked, you have to look further and further away from the area. This, of course means extra expense for buses, trains, taxis, parking charges etc. - if you can find a parking space.)

Fern House is an excellent place to stay, with every amenity provided to ensure a quiet and comfortable residence. We booked the accommodation several months before the 1940's event, and the communication from Andrew and Hazel was first rate, constantly updating us with necessary information.

All in all, we had a fantastic weekend, and Fern House played a big part in providing us with excellent facilities to ensure this. ( Even the weather was brilliant)

Thank You Hazel and Andrew, we'll certainly recommend your wonderful house to all our friends.

Andrew's place is exceptionally well situated. It was a cosy cottage to come home to after been out walking in quite chilly autumnal weather. A very comfy bed made for a good night's sleep. Andrew's home is perfectly situated tucked away behind the main throughfare of the beautiful town of Grassington. Parking is an added bonus as the place was buzzing whilst we stayed. The house is quiet, well equipped, warm & comfortable. Stairs are steep as mentioned in the listing so you do need to take care when going to the loo in the night.

Fern House is perfectly represented in the pictures and it’s even a bit larger than we had expected. The stairs are steep though and no plumbing on the top floor. Everything you need is available and things are very well explained. The host is very accessible and quick to respond. It’s position in the village is ideal and the village itself is well situated for access to all the main attractions and walks. We’ll be back for sure!

Fern House is an absolute gem in one of the Yorkshire Dales most picturesque villages. It’s location is absolutely fantastic to explore both the local village and surrounding walks of Grassington and as a base to venture further afield in the Dales. Andrew and Hazel have an amazing house to stay at, fully equipped with everything you’d ever need in a holiday stay, it’s clean as a whistle, tastefully decorated and rather cosy. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in the door. We would have no hesitation recommending to others and would love to visit again in the future.

We loved Fern House and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. It was very comfortable and clean and a cosy welcoming place to stay. It was equipped with everything (and more) that we needed as a family of4. Grassington is a great location too, lots of lovely shops and cafes to wander round and good access to the beautiful dales. This cottage was booked at the last minute after another host let us down. It was the only one available in the area we wanted to go to so suited our needs well. It was not a cottage we would normally have booked as the decor was not to our taste. However it was clean, comfortable and the location was great. There were only my daughter and I staying but I think that for 4 people the accommodation is a bit small.

A comfortable and well-appointed flat for the two of us, including most things you could possibly need for a holiday stay. The location is great: in the centre of Grassington with easy parking yet tucked away so no passing traffic noise. There are lots of walks available from the doorstep. When a potential issue arose with the flat, Andrew responded to my enquiry very quickly and resolved the issue faster than I would have usually expected.

Fern House was fantastic, with all the amenities you could ask for (including great wi-fi). It was very clean and well presented with plenty of space. Communication with Andrew was very easy and clear instructions were provided for entering the property (there was a key-code for entry through the front door). We were also able to check in slightly earlier. Grassington is a lovely village with plenty of nice places to eat and drink. Everyone we met there was very friendly and hospitable. There are many varied and interesting walks on the door step. Bolton Abbey is close by and also worth a visit. We have left a five star review and would highly recommend this property to anyone considering renting it.
